Then, we were off to Grand Rapids. I was COMPLETELY surprised. He drove up to the St. Cecilia Music Center. Yes, we were going to enjoy a concert. We listened to The Ying Quartet. They are a very famous (yeah, I don't have a clue!) string quartet. It was great. We really enjoyed learning more about music and they were fabulous! Not only did we enjoy the music, but I especially enjoyed watching the people. Certainly not the kind of crowd I usually hang with.
Something that I really admired about the performance is that these four people were absolutely passionate about what they were doing? Not only could I hear emotion through the music, I could see it through their body language. They were completely sold out to what they were doing. I found myself wondering during the performance if folks see that in me. Am I so very passionate about what I'm doing that those around me can see it? Perhaps I even look a little foolish sometimes!?! I need to let go what others might be seeing as craziness, and be so sold out to God that I do my job (wife, mom, daughter, Bible Study participant, small group member, friend) with the same passion I witnessed last night.
It was so cool to go. I love being married to a man who is just as comfortable in a mosh pit as he is viewing a string quartet. Thanks for the surprise Gary.
